Ned Chandler-Mather

Clinical Psychologist

PhD (Clinical Psychology)

Availability: Thursdays (Kenmore)

Languages: English

Ned completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Griffith University.

Ned provides psychological interventions for individuals across the lifespan (children, adolescents, adults) using a warm, curious, and accepting style.

His therapeutic approach with adolescents and adults is grounded in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy. This means he aims to work with clients to help them uncover links between their past experiences, often from childhood, their thinking styles and beliefs about themselves, others, and the world, and their current day-to-day difficulties. His approach with children and parents is grounded in a whole family approach that draws on principles from CBT and attachment theory. In addition to the importance of thinking styles and beliefs, the relationship between the child and their parents and caregivers is often focused on to help build understanding and change for children and their families.

Ned has experience working with children with neurodevelopmental differences and neurodivergence.

In addition to his role at Wellbeing in Mind, Ned is currently a Lecturer at Griffith University with research interests in FASD, the effects of trauma and adversity on the family and child development, and developing more equitable ways to track a child’s development across systems.
