Tania is the founder/clinical director of Wellbeing in Mind Psychological Services.

She previously worked in private practice in Cape Town, South Africa for over 10 years.  She has a strong neuropsychology background and is experienced at performing both cognitive and neurodevelopmental assessments.  She previously worked at an Epilepsy unit at a private hospital and therefore has a good understanding of the profound impact this condition has on people’s functioning and the lives of their families.  She also ran a Memory Clinic for older adults with concerns regarding cognitive decline and/or dementia.

Since relocating to Brisbane in early 2019, Tania has been working in a clinical and research position at Griffith University on a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) study.  Her role there mainly involves conducting complex diagnostic assessments of young children (aged 3-7 years) as part of a multi-disciplinary team at a child development centre.

Tania is trained and experienced in the use of a variety of neurodevelopmental assessment tools including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and Griffiths Scales of Child Development (Griffiths III).

Tania has a special interest in the assessment of individuals across the life-span to assist with:

  • The identification of developmental delays and differences.

  • The diagnosis of a range of neurodevelopmental disorders including:

    • Autism Spectrum Disorder;

    • Intellectual Disability;

    • Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder;

    • Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder.

  • Determine functional capacity after acute injury (such as traumatic brain injury or stroke).

  • The diagnosis of dementia (e.g. Alzheimer's disease, Fronto-temporal dementia).

  • Monitoring cognitive and behavioural functioning in chronic conditions such as epilepsy.

Tania believes that early identification and intervention is key to supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders or cognitive impairments and allowing them to achieve their full potential. She is experienced at working supportively and collaboratively with clients and their families.

Tania furthermore has a special interest in the treatment of anxiety disorders (e.g. phobias, panic disorder, general anxiety disorder), obsessive-compulsive disorder, and functional neurological disorders (e.g. non-epileptic seizures).

Tania has experience in a range of psychological treatment approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and Schema Therapy. She also offers focussed behavioural interventions (i.e. Positive Behavioural Support), which can be helpful to assist families in managing behaviours of concern secondary to conditions such as intellectual disability, autism, dementia, and head injury.

Tania previously taught at undergraduate and post-graduate level at the University of Cape Town and the University of Stellenbosch and has extensive experiencing supervising trainee psychologists.  She has completed Supervisor training in Australia and is registered as a board approved supervisor with AHPRA.
