Nur holds a Master of Psychology from Lausanne University, Switzerland and an undergraduate degree in Psychology.

 

Nur previously worked as a research psychologist in a Public Hospital in Switzerland. Her role involved conducting semi-structured interviews to assess mental health disorders. Since relocating to Australia in 2016, Nur has been working in non-for-profit organisations with children and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds, people with disabilities, and individuals with a variety of mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression and trauma.

 

Nur adopts an integrative approach and provides person-centred treatment where she tailors her intervention specifically to the client’s need. Nur has experience in a range of approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Schema Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strength Based Approach, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

 

Nur is interested to foster insight into one’s inner self and to understand unconscious patterns of living. Nur can also incorporate Expressive Therapies (art, drawing etc) into her practice when words are not enough to express feelings and thoughts. Nur has special interest in early intervention, parent-child relationship and attachment-informed approaches such as playful parenting and therapeutic play when working with children and families.

 

Born overseas, Nur understands the challenges of adjusting to a new culture and has a solid experience in cross-cultural communication and supporting people from all backgrounds. Nur’s areas of interest include life transitions, depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, and trauma related disorders.
