April completed a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences (Honours) at the University of Queensland.

 

She has experience working with neurodivergent clients of all ages and has a passion for working with young people, from early childhood to adolescence. She has worked both clinical settings and educational environments, including working at a specialist school with students that primarily have language disorders and associated conditions.

 

Prior to embarking on her studies in psychology, April worked with people with disabilities as a positive behaviour support practitioner, supporting clients across the lifespan in improving their relationships with others.

 

April’s intervention are client-focused and take a strengths-based approach that ensures that her clients have the autonomy and choice in what they would like to achieve in therapy. Within this approach, April uses various frameworks such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IT), Family Systems Therapy and Interoception-based programs to support the social and emotional wellbeing of her clients, aiming to create a safe and collaborative space in therapy.

 

April is trained in a range of assessment tools. She is passionate about assisting clients and their families in developing an awareness and understanding of their abilities, strengths and weaknesses and supporting them in accessing tailored strategies to appropriate services.
