Soheyla completed her master’s degree in clinical psychology at Flinders University in South Australia. She moved to Brisbane in 2008 after living in South Australia for 23 years.

She has two adult children and views the family as the nucleus for children’s education and the cultivation of their potential. Thus, she regards high values as the foundation for a healthy and stable family dynamic and raising confident and resilience children. Soheyla is an accredited Triple P Positive Parenting Program provider.

Soheyla has extensive experience working with adults with intellectual disability and Autism. She previously worked for QLD Disability Services and subsequently with NDIS clients, providing positive behavioural support and life skills development for young and adult clients with significant challenging behaviours.

Soheyla has knowledge and experience working with families from diverse cultural backgrounds impacted by trauma and hardship. She endorses a holistic approach to therapy and consider the individual as a whole entity, one that encompasses many powers including biological, physical, psychological (thoughts, feelings and memory), transcendental (contemplation and meditation) and spiritual. When all human powers work in harmony the body is in a state of equilibrium. Deficiency in one aspect will trigger disparity and disturbs other aspects. Therefore, the aim of her therapy is to identify the discrepancy, to empower the individual to make necessary changes, learn skills to manage the emotions, and live a meaningful life despite painful life experiences.

Soheyla’s approach to therapy focuses on Values, Acceptance, Forgiveness, Compassion, Mindfulness, and accessing a transcendent sense of self through values-guided behavioral interventions. She utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Interpersonal and Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Schema Therapy in her approach to therapy.

Soheyla’s aim is to support clients to create a rich and meaningful life, while accepting the pain that inevitably goes with it. She strongly believes that life’s challenges are meaningful tests and thus are the means through which we can grow and develop greater capacities and ultimately achieve greater happiness. She believes that every individual has the potential for growth, therefore, her client/therapist relation is based on:

providing an environment in which the client feels comfortable to engage in for his/her own personal growth;

stimulating ‘self-awareness’ in clients at cognitive, emotional and spiritual levels and inspiring them to embrace their ‘values’ and ‘inner-self’.
